4 Differences Between California and Texas Jet Black Tint and Glass (And, a Few Similarities)

In the Bay Area, California, the brand Jet Black Tint and Glass is synonymous with high-quality auto tint and custom car modifications. And, the same is true in Katy, Texas. While the name is the same, we bet you can guess there are a few differences between the locations, but things are a lot more similar than you might expect. Our franchise locations all use the same high-quality products, endure the same rigorous training, and both have highly satisfied clients. We are glad you’re here to explore the differences and similarities with us in today’s post. Here are four differences between California and Texas Jet Black Tint and Glass (and a few similarities).

Legal Tint Percentage Limits

One of the biggest differences between our California and Texas tint shop locations when it comes to tinting is the legal tint percentage limit. In California, the front windshield must allow in 70% of outside light (referred to as VLT), and the front side windows must allow in at least 70% of outside light. In Texas, the front windshield must also allow in at least 70% of outside light, but the front side windows can be tinted to allow in only 25% of outside light. This means that drivers in Texas can have much darker front-side window tinting than drivers in California.

Heat Reduction Demands

Okay, so the heat reduction capabilities in both areas are the same, but the demands differ quite a bit. Both California and Texas can be incredibly hot in the summer, but Texas tends to have warmer temperatures overall, year-round, with relentless summers. Because of this, there is a greater emphasis on heat reduction capabilities in Texas than in California. Jet Black Tint and Glass in Texas specializes in window films that not only reduce solar heat but also provide glare reduction, UV protection, and infrared heat rejection. These films can make a significant difference in the temperature inside a vehicle, which is why they are in such high demand in Texas. Although these features are also available in California, the emphasis in the Bay Area is improving the vehicle’s aesthetics. Market Size

When it comes to the market for window tinting and glass services, California is significantly larger and more populated than Texas. California’s population is around 39 million people, while Texas’s population is around 29 million people. Sheer number of people and cars aside, the car culture in the Bay Area is strong, with car clubs as a way of life and car shows nearly monthly that put vehicles at center stage and keep the auto enhancement industry busy. To meet this demand, Jet Black Tint and Glass has 14 locations that are consistently booked and busy while our Katy location serves all of the greater Houston area’s needs.

Where Our Tint School Students Attend Class

Jet Black Tint and Glass is proud to offer our own tint school for those who want to make the transition into the auto enhancement industry. To recruit the most students and make expanding their educations easier, we’ve got two tint schools, one located in Houston, Texas, and the other located in San Fransisco, California. Although our students may attend classes hundreds of miles away from each other, they are learning the same skill taught by industry experts on real vehicles. If you’re looking for a way to positively change your life and career, enroll in your local tint school today!
